Meet Executive Chef Heather Younan.
Chef Heather Younan joins our luxury retirement community in Fair Oaks with nearly a decade of culinary experience. After graduating from Le Cordon Bleu with a degree in Culinary Arts, Chef Heather worked in some of the most luxurious resorts and clubs throughout the Fair Oaks area prior to joining our team. Heather discovered her calling to serve in the senior living industry early in life after working as a dietary supervisor for an assisted living and memory care community while still attending high school.
When asked about combining her passions for cooking and seniors, Heather explains, “Senior living is a nice balance when it comes to the food industry. At Oakmont, we have the ability to be creative and make amazing food, but we don’t have the long hours a typical restaurant would have, making the work life balance so great! I fell in love with the food industry at a very young age. My mom owned her own catering company growing up, and I remember spending nights and weekends helping her prepare for her events she was putting on.”
Chef Heather has worked at several Oakmont Senior Living locations. When asked what makes the retirement community in Fair Oaks so unique, she says, “Our community has a large garden, which sets us apart. I plant the garden per the season and try to coordinate with our seasonal menu. We go out in the morning and pick fresh items from the garden to use for dinner that evening. It’s amazing.”
